This installation consists of a security monitor located here in the
LSHTM reception and behind this a far-reaching network of cables
linked to 16 miniature video cameras on four different floors of
the building.
The multiple live video images relayed to the monitor reveal hidden
features and landscapes of the building, at a scale only made possible
by the minutely focussed lenses of these miniature cameras.
The artist sees his work echoing the levels of scrutiny and study
that characterise the School. Much of his previous work has employed
cameras and monitors relaying images from meticulous scale models
which
depict controlled environments some of which resemble research institutions
and hospitals. Gary Perkins has exhibited widely in Britain and
overseas since studying at Liverpool School of Art and Chelsea College
of Art.
